Short track skaters wear costumes cut more protective skin or pads to protect against cuts and abrasions on ice. They are usually covered with plastic foam or lycra.

Nike and other manufacturers have new aerodynamic configurations with built-in protection provided imported. This eliminates the need for skaters in the short to two full protective suits, which makes their clothing with less weight to keep it. Basic skin suits are made from Lycra Spandex. There are different mixes and weight, the more Lycra in the mix, the more expensive costs. You can buy Lycra spandex in the fabric stores or online from many sources, including the products listed below.

Probably something that is a blend of polyester and spandex. I am sure that you find something similar in fabric shops.
